A sort of word-of-the-day log of definitions of typical Chilean words and expressions as well as other words and expressions in Spanish.
The name of this blog comes from a t-shirt my folks bought in New York in 2003 as a joke for our Chilean exchange student. It had a picture of the Statue of Liberty and beneath that, it said "Welcome to America. Now speak English."
Feel free to correct my Spanish (as well as my English). I speak pretty well, but not perfectly.

Mechón is used all the time, not only when they are hazed.
Example: encontraron a unos mechones chupando el día miércoles y los mandaron para la casa.
Pontificia Universidad Católica doesn't like the word mechón. For them they are novatos.
Example: Y en la UC, puta que hay minas ricas por las rechuchas.
Siii wn. Mi generacion es "normal" (hay de todo) pero este año llegaron unas novatas wn.. uffff...
